Ansettelsesform: Contract
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is looking for a Nursing Team Supervisor with French language skills to join the pool of our International Mobile Staff.
Doctors Without Borders (Leger Uten Grenser/Médecins Sans Frontières/MSF) is an independent, international medical humanitarian organization that provides lifesaving care to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
As a Nursing Team Supervisor, you are part of the backbone of our medical activities. Through strong leadership, collaboration, and care for both patients and colleagues, you help ensure safe, high‑quality nursing care in some of the world’s most challenging contexts. This is a role where your experience truly matters, and where you work for something greater than yourself.
If your application is successful, you will be added to the pool of International Mobile Staff (IMS) with MSF Norway.
Being part of the IMS pool means that you are eligible for international assignments. Matching to a specific project and location will take place based on MSF’s operational needs, your profile, experience, and availability. The assignment duration would be between 6 to 12 months.
Please note: We can only accept applications from Norwegian or Icelandic citizens, EEA citizens residing in Norway, or non‑EEA citizens with a permanent residence permit in Norway or Iceland. Others can find their nearest MSF office at msf.org/work‑msf.
The Nursing Team Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and supporting nursing activities within MSF projects. You ensure that nursing care is delivered in line with MSF protocols, ethical principles, and quality standards, while fostering a supportive, respectful, and learning‑oriented team environment.
You work closely with medical, pharmacy, mental health, and logistics teams to ensure integrated and patient‑centred care.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support nursing staff, ensuring quality, safety, and continuity of care in line with MSF guidelines
Coordinate team activities, including schedules, task allocation, coaching, and performance follow up
Support recruitment, onboarding, and capacity building of nursing staff
Promote infection prevention, proper use of equipment, and safe clinical practices
Work closely with other departments and contribute to reporting and project follow up
Promote MSF values, ethical standards, and a respectful work environment
Qualifications:
Must‑haves:
Diploma or degree in Nursing (registered nurse)
Solid clinical nursing experience, preferably in hospital or emergency settings
Previous experience supervising or coordinating nursing teams
French language skills at working proficiency (minimum B2 level)
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to work in multicultural teams and under pressure
Commitment to humanitarian principles and MSF values
Willingness to work in challenging and resource‑limited environments
Priority clinical experience:
While we welcome applications from nurses with a wide range of clinical backgrounds, current operational needs are particularly high in the following areas:
Paediatrics and Neonatology (ongoing and consistent need)
Burns care
Palliative care
When on assignment, you are employed on a fixed‑term Norwegian contract. (You are not on contract between assignments.)
Salary according to MSF’s global policy, starting from minimum 24 095 NOK per month, depending on role and experience.
Per diem during assignments (varies by project location).
Pension contributions and paid holidays.
Accommodation during assignments.
Coverage of visas, vaccines, insurance and travel expenses.
Psycho‑social support before, during and after assignments.
Access to learning and professional development programmes.
Comprehensive pre‑departure training in tools and procedures.
The opportunity to be part of a dedicated, diverse international team supporting people who need it most.
